Lara Watson

I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1998, and started specialising in Women’s Health in 2012.

In 2017, I trained as a Hypopressives instructor, and I hold advanced certification in the method. No longer a practicing Physio, Hypopressives have become my focus, not as isolated pelvic floor exercises, but as a system for improving pressure management, postural control, breathing efficiency, and core function.

My background in physiotherapy means all of my work is grounded in:
• Anatomy and biomechanics
• Nervous system regulation
• Evidence-informed movement
• Long-term outcomes, not short-term fixes

Over time, I have become particularly interested in longevity and healthspan in women — how strength, balance, cardiovascular fitness, and breathing capacity determine not just how long we live, but how independently and confidently we live.

This perspective has shaped the work I now do at Hypopressives North Wales, where I help women — particularly peri- and post-menopausal women — train the physical systems most strongly linked to long-term independence:
• Lower-body strength
• Balance and stability
• Efficient breathing and recovery
• Core function without excessive pressure

My approach is calm, progressive, and respectful of physiology.
It is designed for women who want to feel strong and capable without aggravating symptoms, and who care about protecting their future health as much as their current wellbeing.

I believe that women are not “breaking down” with age — they simply need training that matches their changing bodies.

I enjoy being outdoors, jogging with my dog and I’ve dabbled in a few triathlon events. I’m learning the Welsh language and can lose hours (sometimes days) macrame-ing, with the mountains my biggest inspiration!
